Beginning May 5, Amlamgog Forest of Food will embark on the creation of a food forest on 8 hectares of land at Fort Folly First Nation.
We're starting from scratch. We have no supplies, we have to tools, we have pretty much nothing in the way of a propagation system. We've only received startup funding for 4 employees/partners.
A few ideas floating around include accepting donations to develop a plot of permaculture guilds. Each guild would be a circle about 10 meters in diameter and would consist of fruit or nut trees, fruit or nut bearing bushes, fruit vines, mushroom crops, edible ground cover, and some perennial root crops.
Maybe you can sponsor a circle. Maybe we can keep track of it for you with regular visits where we would take photographs and videos to show you the circle's progress.
Then we can use the sponsor money to do earthworks, propagation of the plants and get the tools we need to get the work done and document our progress.
It's an idea. Not carved in stone yet. Come back later and see what we've come up with.
